This is the town where you start the game. The numbers are entrences to different shops where you can buy items to equip your character with. Here the player is standing close to 4, the entrance to the temple.
This is another screenshot of the center of town, taken at night. Be careful at night, for the shadows may hide evil ruffians with malicious intent.
The shops in town sell many different items that you can equip your character with.
After equipping your character it's time to enter the dungeon.
After exploring the dungeon a bit you will encounter some monsters. Its time to fight!
Since MAngband is a multiplayer game, sometimes you unecpectedly run into other players. In this screenshot the person playing has just encountered another adventurer and a green naga.
