This has been done and will be included in the next client rls.

Yea, good idea, this has been implemented in the client now and will no doubt available for download real soon.  Although the keypress is currently set to '/' so people can still enter a smiley.

As I recall, the server doesn't support continous map recentering for the client, whereby the player is always in the center of the screen and everything else moves around him.

A discussion on the pro's and con's of this contentious topic would be interesting...
