Re: need help at 1800 [Rescued]
As discussed in irc but repeated here for the benefit of anyone reading this, yes water bolts both stun and confuse.

Re: A question about macros
There's no way to view currently defined macros in your client, other than the methods you mention. A command macro executes only when the game is expecting a command. i.e. in a state waiting for the next command (in theory). A normal macro fires any old sequence of key strokes at any time, even whe...

Re: What happens to houses when you die?
So, if I have played a Half-Troll Warrior named Bashus, with password XXX, even after I have died, another player can't create a new character named Bashus, with a different password? That is correct. This is a good thing, it means someone else can't steal your character name after you die. You can...

Re: Mining, shovels and picks
Many things summon, not only uniques. There are also summon traps which when walked upon summon monsters. The unique orcs certainly turn up with an escort, so if you met a lot of orcs it's likely to have been an orc unique and his merry band of men. There are also orc "pits" which are fairly common,...

Re: Mining, shovels and picks
Tunnelling is extremely valuable, but not really for mining ore. It's real value lies in gaining tactical advantages (like building anti-summoning corridors). The money you can make from mining ore is nothing compared to the money you can make from diving deeper in the dungeon. Equipping a good digg...

When a ghost is destroyed that characters houses are emptied of all contents and become available to purchase by other characters.

Re: Compiling on Kubuntu
Are you just typing ./mangclient after the "./configure && make" ? You should not run the client from the "src" directory (even though you can if you compile it yourself - it won't work properly). You should ensure you are in the "mangband-1_1_0" directory not "mangband-1_1_0/src" when running ./man...

Re: Compiling on Kubuntu
Which source are you trying to compile? Where and how did you get them? Is there are directory named "mangband" in the src directory? Have you run ./configure? Do you have all the required dependencies? You can install some of them with: sudo apt-get install build-essential libncurses5-dev libx11-de...

Yes, a ring of slaying is just like wearing two separate rings, one of damage and one of accuracy.

Re: Stats script for your own server?
Ghosts don't feature in this process, just pretend they don't exist. :) MAngband writes a character dump when a character dies.
When a ghost is destroyed it has no effect on anything (the character was already dead) and no additional dump is written.

Re: MAngband net protocol
Are there any form of docs/text/writeup on the MAngband net protocol? Nope, there is no documentation other than the source I'm afraid. Be careful reimplementing the networking code, even the networking protocol between different revisions of MAngband isn't compatible. The source in /trunk for exam...

Re: Stats script for your own server?
It is technically safe to remove the files, yes. The server never attempts to read any of these files.
However, a character who dies above level 20 gets a full character dump attached below this machine readable line, which you may want to keep...

Re: Stats script for your own server?
Yes, the character dumps are saved in lib/user/ and are named <charactername>-<server-turn>.txt. The combination of character name and server turn gives you a unique key for any given character. The machine readable line in the dump is the first line, and always begins with "#". Fields are delimited...
