Re: Server restore

I just wanted to say what a GREAT job Jug and Flambard have been doing in getting things back up and running. I've mostly been sitting in the background watching, and it's pretty amazing just how much is getting redone, better than ever! (Editing Billsey's message to keep log here (for now)) 10 Jan ...

Re: An example of Randart generation "gone wrong"

What do you do when a player picks up a randart generated for someone else?

Re: An example of Randart generation "gone wrong"

I think that'd be great! Even if it never makes it into the core game, it could easily drop into a variant...

Re: PWMAngband 1.1.5 beta is out!

It turns out that there's something weird going on with my DNS server. It's returning bad addresses for some URLs, although there's no Mal-ware showing up on my machine. If I do a 'Q' and type in the IP address and port number (209.237.77.245:18350) I connect fine every time. This may be happening o...

Re: Self selling cheeze

Unfortunately, the prices are not enforced when a player sells directly to another player, without using their store. If sold at the 'standard' price (between 1x and 3.5x base price) it's not bad. The problem comes when selling at higher or lower prices than can be found in the stores.

It's worth noting that this is exactly the behavior found in Angband, +0 players move at +0 speed even when running...

Re: New Class: Monk

Ah, so it's the fact that with bullet time the monster speed vs. player speed has been fixed so a +0 player moves at the same speed as a +0 monster, even when running. Previously the player was hacked to actually run at +10 speed and walk at +0.

Re: New Class: Monk

Don't you have it set to stop running when you hit a panel change? Hounds will only bother you then when they're right next to the edge of a panel and in that case you'd be owned even without bullet time. I always (once I'm high enough level to do it, level 10-15 with regen; 15-20 without :) detect ...

Re: Changing news.txt

If you are running Vista (and maybe Windows 7), the OS creates a hidden folder for your own personal changes to files within the Program Files directory. There is a mirror of the news.txt file there and that will be what you need to edit. Check out C:\Users\username\AppData\VirtualStore\.

Re: Mangband Graphical Tile Sets?

It's worth mentioning that if you use one of the existing tile sets, the items that aren't in there are just displayed as their normal letters or punctuation. Although I'm not sure how functional that all is... :-)
