Re: Thinking of lulz

Don't know whether that five-second stacking works or not. Heroism and resist cold/fire, and prayer scrolls fully stack, so just bring like thirty of them and pop em' all off beforehand. Don't think berserk strength does. No, he's not likely to live. If he ends up next to Morgy (even if your placeme...

Re: Thinking of lulz

You've put in quite a bit of work into this character to be so cavalier about his death =) Ideas: A. Consider a second speed ring. If your speed pot runs out, you're in a bad place. If you pop extra, you're just wasting some of the damage increase from that ring. More speed means faster reaction, wh...

Or are you talking about a pre-restart happening? If so, he will be listed in the old high-scores, not the new ones...

Slap me someone if I'm talking rubbish here...
No, it's post restart.

Retired characters not listed in stats

The game retired Turin after he killed Morg (and he's on Mangband's highscore list) but he is not listed on the site's statistics reporting page.

**KING** Turin

I was sitting in a maze vault with permawalls when Morgy showed up outside. Kaze and Zal held the level for me while I grabbed some speed potions and discarded everything with charges. It lasted thirty eight rounds Morgoth-speed - permawalls, so he had one space to summon. I healed far too much (20x...

Re: What is the most important thing in MAngband?

I'm certainly not the posterboy for surviving, so I could cry good luck for this character's good fortune to avoid death so far, *knock on wood* =) Even so, I'd say tactical awareness, means of escape, and resists. I notice the first two were already popular (and I pushed resists up to form a trinit...

Trial version of Snagit http://www.techsmith.com/download/snagittrial.asp

I think it was virtualdub to mix it. Audacity is great for doing the audio and/or attaching music.

Re: Improvements/suggestions for lvl1 partying...

I think the major issues seen here come down to the ones which have plagued any Mangband party since the dawn of time: Some players are faster then other players. If you're playing a war-rog-pal, you're by default going to have a faster and more aggressive playstyle. Slow the first group to match th...

"It might have hidden powers" is a lie perpetuated by shopkeepers marketing their wares, they are truly telling all already.

Not that I would know what such evil shopkeepers are like..

Scrolls of teleportation make life far easier, agreed.

But if everyone can get these nice (and very helpful items), it makes the game much easier. You don't *have* to wait for them; it's something you choose to do because they're so nice.

Re: PK Vote

Players have always been more fun to face then computers in any game I've played, and this holds true in Mangband.  However, the presence of the community (and its small size) has added a social dimension to the game which removes from it the pure "kill or be killed" archetype that might otherwise b...

It's neat for me to see.  I've heard about the case daily for quite awhile - have a parent who follows it closely on Groklaw.
