My adventures in ironman

Post by Ignatius » Fri 28.03.2014, 20:31

I have been playing ironman for the past 5-6 months. I have found it to be far more interesting than playing the regular server, though I think part of that has to do with the fact that the majority of arts were available when i started playing (there are a few good arts that are out of circulation due to abandoned characters ).

My current party consists of a lvl 50 priest, lvl 46 mage and lvl 44 warrior at 3050 feet. I have left behind one of my characters at 3000 feet ( a lvl 50 dunadan priest ) for the purpose of scumming the BM ( It really sucks when you find a +10 pair of speed boots in BM and don't have any character that has the money to buy it ). I also have a lvl 38 human ranger at 1000 feet that I have used to move some items up for future characters to use (primarily the high lvl spell books).

My current plan is to kill all the uniques on all 3 of my remaining characters (or atleast on the mage/priest), and then to kill morgoth.

Notable items found: +21 pdsm, +8 speed boots, 2 +11 speed rings, 2 +10 speed rings, +2 kolla of lordly resistance, ringil/cubby/thror/aeglos/gondor/dor-lomim/amrod/cambeleg/fingolfin, and some others.

Ill update this post as I get closer to my goal.

Are you playing the 3 chars at the same time?

usually 2 characters at a time. I have become quiet proficient at this. Ive played as many as 4 at a time, but that was essentially in a specific setup with a summoning staff.

character update: lvl 50 priest, lvl 48 mage, lvl 47 warrior.

This is gonna be fun... once you find morgy ;)
Just be careful about some uniques like Atlas or Maeglin which could wipe a character while you're busy with another...

I have killed all uniques on the priest/mage up to the Witchking, and then some random ones beyond that (Tarrasque, Huan, Cacarach, Vecna ).

Maeglin is in my opinion the most dangerous Unique in game besides morgy. I think I'm gonna set a spot in a perma wall vault and just summon/destruct till i find him and kill him with each character. I mean he is a huge pussy in close combat, but soon as he flees and summons shit, can easily get insta gibbed.

Update: all 3 characters have killed all uniques up to and including pazuzu. Mage has killed all uniques except Ancalagon, Gothmog, Sauron and Morgoth.

Currently hunting for the numenor crown before heading to 4k feet as numenor+soulkeeper give almost all resists, and are perfect for a mage with the +con and +int buffs. Also looking for Doomcaller for the warrior. Still have not seen feanors, though Im not really gonna wait around for them. Don't really think they are necessary for morgoth if one has cubby. Once I find numenor, I will head down to 4k, sell alot of the loot back to my other characters, and then head down to 4500 to kill off the remaining uniques, find the cold and lightning power rings and death wreaker. Once that is done, will head down to 4950, kill sauron with all 3 chars, and then head on down for morgy.

All 3 characters are at 4000 feet (which is by far the coolest town I've see so far).

Uniques left
Mage: Ancalagon, Sauron, Morgoth
Priest: Ancalagon, Gothmog, Sauron, Morgoth
Warrior: Q, Cantoras, Drauglin, Ancalagon, Kronos, Carcarach, Sauron, Morgoth

Recent items found: Vilya, Feanors, numenor crown, Doomcaller, Eonwe Axe, 15 speed ring, 2 pairs of +9 speed boots, 2 pairs of +8 boots, +4 trickery ammy, esp bow.

Priest/Mage have full resists. Warrior has all except for resist dark. All characters have telepathy and 200 con with 30+ speed, with the priest at 41 base speed.

Getting ready for the final leg, though I might get to 6k before trying to killing morgy as it would be nice to find some pdsms for future use.

Can someone explain what would happen to the char/party if a character killed Morgoth on ironman?

If you kill Morgoth, you win like in regular game. Futhermore, you can recall and live a happy life on the surface ;)

All 3 characters are at 4250.

Uniques left:

Mage: Ancalagon, Sauron, Morgoth
Priest: Ancalagon, Sauron, Morgoth
Warrior: Q, Ancalagon, Sauron, Morgoth

Only artifact that I still would like to get before trying Morgoth is Deathwreaker (for the priest). In the mean time will hunt down Anacalogon/Sauron.

Will probably try Morgy within next week or two.

Down to 4750. Mage/priest have just Sauron/Morgoth left. Warriors also has Q left (Im keeping him around for a reason).

Still hunting for Deathwreaker. Maybe get lucky and find another pdsm. In either case, after I think more than 7 months, I am finally getting to what will hopefully be a successful dive.

Down to 4950 feet. Mage and Warrior have killed Sauron. Once I kill him with the priest, will continue searching for death wreaker until my inventory fills up and will go down to 5k. From there, I will load up on the necessary stuff for morgy, and head on down.

Congrats on killing morgy with your own party. Somewhat unconventional, still first time in ironman...

So Morgy has been killed in Ironman now - and there's no "king"-post about it?

Congrats

I killed him with all 3 characters: dunadan priest, dunadan mage, and halftroll warrior.
