Telnet Server Proxy?

Post by ScMang » Wed 27.08.2008, 01:25

Would it be possible to setup a "telnet proxy server" so systems that cannot compile/run the client can still participate?

Thanks.

I don't know that there is a TTY or VT100 compile working, though the SDL compile might be close. I know of no one who has that generic of a server running. Best would be if you could find an account on someone's Linux box to get you into the game. What OS / hardware do you use?

Me and... I think it was fink, did set up a proof-of-concept telnet server for MAngband some time back. Mainly we tried it because it's such a popular thing with nethack. It did work, albeit not too well, it would need someone to spend some time getting it working perfectly. But it is possible.

Some telnet based BBS's offer access to a MAngband client believe, I know of at least one player who used to play like this. But I personally have no experience with these.

I agree with Billsey in that a simple solution is to use ssh to connect to a Linux box somewhere and play like that.
