It would be darn cool to be able to have bits of text scrolling by in the mirror window highlighted - think of a 6-swing fight, with an exlosion of lines scrolling up and breakneck pace: it can be diffuclt to notice important messages in the sea of text.
It would work like this:
The client would look for a text file. In this text file, the user would enter strings of text representing what they would like to be highlighted.
Each entry would be accompanied by some color codes, to allow control over the color. While perhaps not possible, we could as well allow some control over the font (bold, itallics, reversed font, etc).
The client would detect these strings set up by the user, and highlight accordingly.

User configured text highlighting for mirror
Re: User configured text highlighting for mirror
The function that is responsible for the highlighting of things like chat, players' deaths, uniques rising from the dead, etc. is fix_message in client/c-xtra1.c
That's a starting point, anyway.

"MAngband 0.7.1 has been in a practically-ready-to-release-but-dont-have-the-time state for quite some time now. It is basically MAngband 0.7.0 with a few nifty features taken from PernMangband (most notably message coloring), a few bug-fixes, and most importantly a new license. It will probably be released some time fairly soon. "
I just noticed this near the bottom of the news page. Almost sounds like what was described above. Crim, what's the story with this?
