hey buds I got an IRC client called emacs working I think. well I needdd to know the name of the thing I type in. thankks buds and a ahpppay new year

I dont know which client "emacs" is, but here are the original steps posted already in this forum. You'll find the original post by searching for "irc".

start your irc client....
manual steps are:
/server irc.perl.org
/join #mangband

Better is to go into some kind of "autoconnect" dialog, usually those open directly when starting first time. add a new network in the dialog and enter the server address. then there should be a row "auto-join channels" or similar. enter #mangband there.

That should do the trick. Hopefully :)
