I chose to ignore the large type telling me that the installer does not work with vista. Started right up for me...didn't even need "compatability mode" or anything.
I'm running 32-bit home premium on a Pentium D.
edit: I seem to have spoken too soon. It installs and runs, but it is a bit buggy. I think the biggest problem (might be the only problem) is that I am unable to see walls.

If you go into your lib\user directory and rename the file font-win.prf to something else (maybe font-win-old.prf) and then restart your client you will get visible walls and things should work fine. Unfortunately, they'll be the complex walls that Linux players get (% and # mostly) instead of the nice solid blocks that Windows users are used to.
Fixing this is liable to be quite a bit of work (any good Windows programmers out there?) since the original fix for Windows was a bit of a hack. What we need is real font support instead (ie., you should be able to choose any fixed proportion font that Windows recognizes).

Just in case any Vista users stumble across this thread... MAngband version 1.1.0 or later fully support Windows Vista, there is no longer any need to hack on the lib/ files.
