can't manually connect.
can't see meta server list

switched off fire walls.
pinged manband.org (45 ms)

tried connecting direct to that IP too. No joy.

Not particularly technically minded. I'll check back tomorrow, hopefully have some answers. Got the urge to kill some monsters today :(

This happens to me sometimes. It's a DNS problem and you can't do anything about it :(

seeing same issue on a network that has machines that work. Compiled on Gentoo. Just constantly "connecting to metaserver...". Is there a Command Line that will connect me to a specific server automagically?

For a Linux box, you can just add the address of the server you wish to use as the first argument after the executable name. For instance:

> mangclient mangband.org

or

> mangclient mangband.seymourfamily.com

It will use the default port unless you specify a different one in your initialization file.
