Those mini + rooms are scary.

Post by Fink » Thu 12.01.2006, 17:44

Now, I've always known and respected the little + rooms that generate now and then. I mean, those things can get nuts, with wwwwaaaaaayyyyy out of depth stuff and mean uniques in them. They are totally worth the effort, of course, and often worth getting killed for (awesome loot is frequently underneath the 5 monsters).

But this is my freakiest one yet. Note the depth:

The V is Thuringwethil, by the way. Saddly, she rolled down with the Tarras, so I didnt have time to accomodate her drop :(

I did get reckless and gave the Tarras a shot. What a joke - barely got him down a star before it was time to remind him that he had a pressing engagement on the other side of the dungeon.

I miss finding GCV's, haven't found one in ages.
I'm bored of greater vaults, most of them are just a big mess.

GCV's on the other hand makes perfect sense, one space - one monster - one space - one great item.
Not like the greater vaults filled with tons of hounds and tiamats and nasty Q's, they're just weird.

That's not scary at all... well for Mangband maybe. In TomeNET, I've encountered a cell like that at 800ft with Ungoliant, Tiamat, a GB, a black reaver and Cantoras. After the death of a few low/mid/high level chars, we asked a King to discard all those (and at 800ft he almost died to the fastness of the critters - Tiamat breathing stuff at speedlight for example). Stuff in the vault included: arrows of frost, bolts of slay undead, robe of res cold, dagger of slay orc and boots of levitation. Maybe 15 chars died for that pathetic loot...  ;D

Did I mention that cells like that have monsters that are 80 levels out of depth in TomeNET?  So basically under 1k you can get anything...  ;)
