Thinking of starting on Mangband

Hello, I just recently started to play Angband again, and thought I would take a look at some varients... Are there any plans to code in the better graphics for Mangband? I dont know if I can stand playing with the basic graphics... But maybe I will give it a try...

Yes, there are such plans :) For next release actually, altho it might take a while. Feel free to give it a try nonetheless :)

The hard part will be to redraw the bmps completely... since MAngband has more items.

Although I think that I would probably still mostly play in ascii format. Once you get used to it, it makes it much easier to tell what is going on with everything.

Yeah... I will never use graphics in MAng even if the next version has some. Mainly because of the monsters. In real time you don't have much time to check each pixel to tell if you have in front of you The Tarrasque or a Baby Red Dragon...
Maybe it's just a question of visual memory... once you've learned the whole tileset, the game's probably more enjoyable with graphics. Just check my roguelike Land of Darkness (see the PWMAng forum if you really want to check it hehe)... I wouldn't play it without tiles.
