The Challenge [Quest]

I had a dream just now about this, except the quest was just filled with scrolls inscribed with real life addresses.
So then when I went to these addresses, it was a movie set and we could be extras. I never figured out what the movie was about since all the scenes seemed random.

I found it XD after maping out wilderness for about 2 hours. It is a needle in a haystack but I guess I got lucky XD.

1) Warrior this is a totally sick level
2) I am going to clear it but not today I need to get ready for it and to get something to record
3) Do I get something for being the first to have found the location ?
4) Is there any rules about cowardness (banishment/WoD) ?
5) I like the looks of what is layed in the middle of this quest XD..

I am waiting for your answers to those questions before trying out the quest.

I'm glad someone found it, I was actually a bit worried that I hid it too well :)

1. Yes it's the first full sized custom level I have made and I may have gone over the top but the rewards are huge.
2. If you get something to record video and even just take a few screenshots now before you clear it (and post the pictures to tease others? :p) that would be great!
3. Depending on your level there is already a decent "bonus" with the treasures available in the first few levels before it gets real tough. If you upload screenshots to this thread (I'll link them to/from the other screenshots we have) you'll get a bonus.
4. Well, I've tried to make banishment at least somewhat risky and WoD not all that effective, I actually had plans to expand it further but you found it too soon :)
5. Yes, you should, it's a handsome reward tuned to sort of match the risk of actually fighting the monsters. If you manage to get the items without doing any battle I think you deserve the rewards as I've tried to make it hard to get around the actual battles.

PS: Warrior did you Add some more creatures ? I see a lot more D's and L's than there was yesterday.

Yes, I have added a few more monsters as I decided to make some tactical changes to make it harder to just banish&*destruct* your way to the rewards in the final stage... But I've also upped the rewards to match the monsters. As you may notice later on some parts of the quest area can't be reached (though I've actually opened a few more locations today...)

Ok cool. up until now I have cleared about 5 first levels and have only bannished Q's nothing else. If you see some WoD they wernt made to kill monsters but to provide defence tunnels. Do you want me to send you personaly each video as I clear or to wait until its completely cleared to post em here ?

I respect the efforts made into this quest and I dont plan to cowardly destructing everything. I have killed every unique in my way up until now and will only destruct a monster if I juge it impossible or Extremely risky.

It would be great if you could send me the videos as you go along (mangband at gmail), but do feel free to post them here also for everyone else to see until I get a chance to put them up on our video page.

It's been great fun to do build this quest, it started out quite randomly but as it progressed I started thinking more about how to make things challenging and fun for the player. And how to deal with Banishment/WoD, obviously. Thats still a challenge but I have learned a few things from creating this level that'll come in useful for later quests ;)

THE CHALLENGE (QUEST) has come to an end.

After getting to level 6/9 of the Vault I died. To make it short it is because I misjuged line of sight of a druj who could see me and not me and he teleported me into HELL for the quickest instant death in history..(caught on video).

BUT... after floating my ghost down the mountain back to town to gather some other gear, I decided to claim my REVENGE !!!

Leaving all the FAME and GLORY behind I entered the dark side of LAME REVENGE.. therefore Once back to the quest area I started to WoD my way back to my stuff and then managed to WoD my way to all of the rewards.

All in all I lost :

a Kolla of Lordly resistance +33 (+2)
a pair of speed boots (+10)
an Orcish shield of elvenkind +31 (+1)
and 6 400 000 exp

I gained :
about 4 000 000 $
about 2 000 000 exp
a Scroll of *Aquirement*
a Power Dragon Scalemail [40, +15]

and a LOT of fun !

I am glad that my death was during this epic handmade quest.

Thank you WARRIOR, Can't wait to see the next one you will come up with.

For those who want the remains (there are a few) Look at my death dump you will see where my rod of recall is inscribed to go to.

Basicaly from town go up 3 times and then go left for a LONNNNG time and you should bump into the level itself.
