Mangband restart

Crimson, aside from resetting the server, can you give us some insight into what else is being done?

Is 0.8.0 ready to roll, or is this just a hand full of bug fixes that you've got ready to go that need a reset to put in?

Can we get a listing or sample of what kind of coolness we can expect to see?  Granted, I'm not asking for an item-by-item breakdown, but messages like "keep your eyes out for different types of DSM" or something would be cool.

...unless you already HAVE a list of changes that you want to share  :P

I'd be especially interested to hear that we can now interact with items on the floor.  Think how nice it would be to, as a ghost, read that scroll of life you had been carrying around with you.  Just float over it, 'r' '-'.

Or say your arms are full, but you'd really like to identify that small metal shield on the floor.  Why should you have to drop something else, pick up the shield, identify, then reverse everything when it turns out to just be another cursed item?

This type of interaction with the floor has been around in Vanilla for a long time, it sure sounds like it wouldn't be that tough to implement, and I think it's really needed.

I agree with floor interaction but I worry that ghosts interacting with their stuff might be a little too unbalancing.  At the very least it would vastly affect how death works.

I'm also curious as to the anticipated timeline.  I thought the server reset was going to happen at the same time as the move so I dove hard last night.  I'm just wondering how much time I have to play with some of my new stuff and consequently how long I have to play the odds I won't get utterly wasted.

Then, of course, I always welcome improvement so the sooner the better.

The server hasn't been showing up on the list of available servers since early this afternoon, PST.  Hopefully it won't be down too long, I'd like to get the new character well started tonight.

I believe the server is down for the move but not the reset.  The reset will happen sometime in the near future so you should have all of your current characters available still.  But that just means that we have another pending upset.

I'm trying to nail down when that will happen.  But I too have been checking the server list all day, and I'm about to leave work and was hoping to play tonight.  I hope everything is back up and running soon.  Otherwise I might have to play something with GRAPHICS!!!

Uhh... Just press Q and connect to mangband.org. If the site is up, then the server probably is too.

The server is up, there is some issue with it reporting to the meta that I've not had time to figure out yet.
Are you not entertained?
Is this not what you came here for?

I'm asking this just to make sure I don't get a surprise...

I reached my main goal of 99.999.999 exp a couple of weeks ago with Zaphod, since then I've been killing off all the uniques, getting ready for the big fight with Morgoth.

However my first few attempts were failures, I just couldn't do enough damage to hurt him properly so I decided to swap out a speed ring for a dam ring and hopefully that will work better.

I don't expect to be able to play much the next 3-4 weeks so I'm just posting this to make sure the server doesn't get reset that soon.

Thanks,
