Mud to Stone

Post by Nightmare » Tue 29.10.2002, 05:01

Would be nice if you could make a stone wall out of nothing, although it would probably unbalence things quite a bit.

So many times I have been in a situation where making a wall would have saved me from a savage beating.

Maybe could be a really high level spell or rare staff?

What do you guys think?  :-/

Perhaps Mangband can borrow an item from Moria.
In Moria they have a wand of wall building.  This
wand builds a 1x1 cube of granite.  Very useful when
you want to stop things which can not go through
stone.

There's something of a distinction to be made about "Mud To Stone", and building houses.  Houses are made of Permarock.  This incredibly durable stuff lasts forever, even between server restarts.  Normal granit, which is what "Mud to Stone" would produce, is very temporary, and would vanish the next time that level is reset.  Wilderness levels are reset once a game day, or once every time the server restarts, which ever comes first. ;D
Are you not entertained?
Is this not what you came here for?

So what you mean is that _you_ can't do it, or that _it_ can't be done. Or that it wouldn't be any cool? (Talking about building houses now) Cause I've seen it in another version of MAngband. Hmm, maybe it was another version of Angband =b Not sure, don't remember.

What you are talking about is building houses with it, if it exsisted, which you would not be able to do. The stick would only make tempory walls and not perma-rock, if you go into the dungeon and try tunneling into a wall, you can eventually get through. If it is perma-rock, like houses and shops then you cant tunnel through.

Try it  ;)

Hmm, I don't remember where, but I remember playing something that let you create houses, with a door and a key. I'm starting to be afraid that it was single-player though =b

I think Pernmangband had scrolls of House Creation?
If I remember correctly they, although very rare and expensive, allowed you to place perma-rock in wilderness in order to create your own house.

I thought so too, but then again. I'm not going to argue without _knowing_ anything =b
